What is the difference between the Medicube Age-R Booster Pro and Project E Beauty’s Reva Instant Age Renewal Wand? Both devices claim to reverse signs of aging by tightening the skin and boosting skincare absorption, which device offers the best return on your investment?

Do Reva and Medicube Use the Same Technology?

Each device has 5 anti-aging technologies, with some differences and some overlaps.

Electroporation - Both

Medicube’s Radiance Booster Mode uses electroporation technology to create temporary pores in the cell membrane to deliver skincare ingredients deeper into the skin. Reva’s electroporation mode uses an advanced type of electroporation known as ‘revolving electroporation pulse’ which uses deep alternating pulses to deliver skincare ingredients while lifting and tightening the skin.

EMS - Both

Reva’s EMS mode works beyond the skin to stimulate facial muscles, triggering ATP release. ATP supports the creation of key structural proteins such as collagen and hyaluronic acid. Think of this mode as a facial workout. Similarly, the Booster Pro’s Elasticity Derma Shot Mode uses EMS.

Radio Frequency - Reva only

Radio frequency is the gold standard when it comes to skin tightening. It is one of the only techniques that uses thermal energy to tighten the skin while supporting collagen production. It is very effective at lifting and tightening the skin, particularly around the cheeks and jaw. A key difference between Medicube and Reva is that Medicube does not use radio frequency skin tightening. If you want that real ‘snatched’ and lifted look or to target and prevent sagging under the jaw, Reva may be the best option.

Microcurrent - Medicube only

Medicube’s MC mode uses low voltage microcurrent for facial muscle stimulation. This mechanism works much in the same way as EMS. While both technologies have the power to rejuvenate skin by producing ATP to support collagen synthesis and have a substantial lifting effect, EMS is a more powerful option for muscle toning and lifting sagging skin while microcurrent works more holistically treating all skin cell types plus muscles.

Ultrasound Technology - Reva only

Reva’s URF mode combines radio frequency and ultrasound. The ultrasound delivers ultrasonic waves to the skin, creating micro-vibrations that stimulate cellular activity and enhance collagen production for firmer, tighter skin. It also aids in the improved absorption of skincare products.

Sonic Vibration Mode - Medicube only

Medicube allows you to turn on ‘sonic vibration’ with each mode to stimulate blood flow and offer a gentle massage. This mode can be turned on and customized through the Medicube app.

LED Light Therapy - Both

Reva and Medicube Age-R Booster Pro offer a combined LED light therapy treatment with each mode. LED light therapy is clinically proven to boost collagen, treat acne, and balance skin tone.

Needle-Free Technology - Medicube only

This mode works in a similar to electroporation. It uses electric needle-free technology to form micro-wounds in the skin to improve pore elasticity.

Other Factors to Consider

Intensity Levels:

Both devices have 5 intensity levels to build up to a more intense treatment as your skin adapts

Recommended Treatment:

Medicube recommends a treatment time of 1-3 treatments per day for 10 minutes per session. Consider if this treatment schedule is something you can realistically maintain. Reva recommends 3-4 sessions per week for 10 minutes. Reva can be used daily as long as you are alternating between modes to allow skin time to recover.

Use Friendly:
Before purchasing, check to see if the device is easy to navigate. Your daily skincare routine should be a time to switch off and relax, and not spent trying to figure out complex device settings with multiple steps.

Safety Features:
While most at-home skin tightening devices come with at least one safety mark, it is important to check for safety features. Medicube does not have radio frequency or ultrasound the device does not use thermal (heat) energy to perform its function. Reva’s URF and REP modes use thermal energy technology to deliver skin benefits. Reva’s inbuilt sensor prevents overheating by activating heat energy only upon contact with the skin.

The Takeaway: Reva Instant Age Renewal Wand vs Booster Pro?

Choosing between Reva and Medicube depends on your specific skincare goals. Both devices incorporate innovative anti-aging technologies, offering a range of benefits for skin rejuvenation. However, Reva stands out for its advanced features like radio frequency and ultrasound technology, which are recognized as gold standards for skin tightening and collagen production. While Medicube offers unique features like microcurrent and needle-free technology, its frequent usage recommendations and lack of radio frequency may not align with everyone’s lifestyle or anti-aging goals. Suppose you’re looking for a device that goes beyond basic skin rejuvenation to deliver powerful lifting and tightening effects while enhancing overall skin health. In that case, Reva may be the better choice for your skincare journey. If you are looking to treat the superficial skin layers and target precise concerns such as acne, hyperpigmentation, and fine lines Medicube is a great option, but without radio frequency, achieving more dramatic skin tightening results may be challenging.
